NaNo is over! Congratulations to everyone who won and to everyone who got more words down than they would have normally :)
December is upon us, and if you're anything like me, it's the month when everything happens and stress is up to the ceiling and on top of the holiday hooplah you're thinking about that book you just finished or need to finish or should be writing, but you can't seem to find the time.
I hereby give you permission to RELAX.
Here's the thing about December... most people, publishers included, take this month off. I promised myself to take the month off as well. I finished my latest WIP on November 28th, sent it off to a reader, and when it comes back to me, I will only open it up during my down time. If I have no down time, I don't stress it. I've booked up my January for revisions and edits and writing. But December is, for me, focusing on what other people need and I allow myself to be open and available to them.
So if you're stressing over getting that chapter written or those edits done, consider next year, December 1st through the 31st of taking that time off. I promise you'll feel more refreshed and ready for when January hits and the holidays won't be spent thinking about plotholes and word count ;)
